MICHELE MITCHELL

Michele Mitchell is an historian with a particular interest in African Diaspora; Gender and Sexuality; United States, 1865-1945; West/East/South Africa; and feminist theory. She is Associate Professor of History at New York University and former North American editor of Gender & History. She is the author of Righteous Propagation: African Americans and the Politics of Racial Destiny after Reconstruction and co-editor of Dialogues of Dispersal: Gender, Sexuality, and African Diasporas and Gender, Imperialism and Global Exchanges. She also serves on the Editorial Board of the Oxford Research Encyclopedia of American History. Recently, Mitchell collaborated on Tulsa Burning: The 1921 Race Massacre on The History Channel and Lincoln: Divided We Stand on CNN.
